The Get Acquainted Social (the GAS) kicks off our year in September. All women of the parish are invited to join us for drinks and appetizers to learn about the Women’s Club and the activities in which we are involved. New friends, ideas, and suggestions are always welcome!
We usually don’t get together in the summer but in 2019 we decided to visit Broken Creek Vineyard and Winery, a family owned, 40-acre vineyard and winery located in Shrewsbury. This winery was new for most of those who attended, it was a fun experience for all. The weather was beautiful and we enjoyed the night with new and old friends. It was a good thing we warned them we were coming - we filled them to capacity!
Our most popular event, gathering over 70 women for a great night of fun and laughter. Who knew such a simple game could be so much fun. Our next event will be our 20th!!
Bunco is typically offered twice a year and it is a night where many women (members, guests, daughters, mothers, friends) come together to play a truly simple game. The fun of it is meeting so many people as two of the four players at each table move after each round.
Tons of fun! Did we mention wine??
In the fall of 2019 we took a break for some fun at The Crafty Nest in Northborough to unwind and CREATE!!
The Crafty Nest offers a unique, instructor-led DIY experience that gives customers the chance to create beautiful, pieces of art to grace their homes or give to others.
Our theme was "enjoying each other’s company and giving thanks!"
In efforts to stay physically distant but socially connected during the pandemic, the Women’s Club took advantage of some lovely fall weather to safely socialize outdoors. During the fall of 2020, we had three outdoor events; Coffee on the Common, a Woodland Walk, and a Parking Lot Lunch.
On Saturday, September 12th, we met at the new Northborough common, pulled up our chairs, and enjoyed some coffee and physically-distant company. What a beautiful sunny morning it was! It was so wonderful to see faces (even through our masks) that we had not seen in months!
On Saturday, September 19th, we enjoyed a hike/walk on Cold Harbor Trail in Northborough.
Another beautiful autumn morning allowed us to enjoy the great outdoors and the company of friends (masks on, of course)! As an added bonus, we got all our steps in before lunch!
On Saturday, October 17th, many of us met in the church parking lot with our bag lunches (another perfect weather day) and ate and chatted on what we knew would be one of our last days to see other in person for a while.
Member Beth Mena led us in a virtual craft night as we all made beautiful Christmas boxwood trees. Our supplies were packed and delivered ahead of time by Theresa Foster and Beth. We enjoyed each other’s company (via Zoom) and everyone created a beautiful Christmas centerpiece by the end of the evening!
In February of 2020, a professional florist came to St. Rose and provided us with all the supplies and instructions needed to enable the women gathered to create beautiful floral arrangements which were then distributed to homebound parishioners as well as those living in local assisted-living and skilled nursing facilities. There was joy in the making and blessing in the giving. Hearts were uplifted on Valentine's Day.
