The readings at a Catholic Funeral liturgy are a proclamation of God’s Word and of the Church’s faith about death and resurrection. For this reason, they are limited to readings from the scriptures (the Bible). There are two readings to select for the funeral Mass: the 1st reading and 2nd readings. The Gospel reading will be selected by the celebrant. There are several options for each, available to view in the links below.
