Comments from the teens: What I took away from the YNIA trip was how lucky I am to have a stable home, family and financial status. So many people don't have a place they call home, or don't feel safe in their own neighborhood. The trip has made me appreciate what I have, and thank God every day for blessing my family and I. - Zack
The first thing that impacted me the most on this YNIA trop was when I was filling up my water bottle and I looked up to see a young boy watching us work from the window of his home. The boy was smiling and I could tell he was very interested in the work we were doing. Seeing the boy made me realize that one day a child might grow up in the house we were working on and that really impacted me. ~ Shane
At the end of the week I have been filled with joy while working hard at Matthew 25. The progress we made was amazing and working with my peers and getting closer made the experience worthwhile. I know that what I did helped the community of Worcester and fulfilled the gospel of Matthew 25.
The best part of my week at Young Neighbors Matthew 25 was working really hard and seeing the results pay off. Not only did I make some great friends I also saw my XO contributions have a positive impact on the project as a whole. It is extremely rewarding knowing that I was part of building the foundation of the house.
Throughout my YNIA Worcester trip this year, I noticed how close poverty and homelessness is to me. My whole perspective changed after this week. I have come to realize that by building houses through Matthew 25, gives multiple families the opportunity to live in a stable environment, as well as giving the children living in these homes a great place to grow up. Seeing the less fortunate all around me for a week made me come to terms realizing how fortunate I am and that I should be thankful for what I have. ~ Brendan
I took away the thought of a family like mine having a house to live in and how good it feels to contribute to that. ~ Jack
This week has been an incredible experience for me. I have created relationships with people I would have never expected. Working together to start preparing for the foundation for a home is an eye opening experience. Knowing that soon two families will get to live and grow in the home we started buildingis an amazing feeling. ~ Julia
