As a musical prayer leader, the cantor must call the faithful to a musical union with each other and with Jesus, which demands a spiritual maturity and confidence that goes beyond merely singing well.

To be a cantor at Saint Rose of Lima, you must be at least 16 years old and have a nice voice. No formal musical training is required, however, participation in one or more of our other music ministries is necessary to be invited to consider being a cantor.

Training is offered which prepares a potential cantor for the spiritual and musical discernment that is necessary to properly execute the role.
