Through baptism we become members of Christ's family. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons and daughters of God. We become members of the Body of Christ as we are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission.
We joyfully look forward to welcoming your child into the life of Christ and into our family of faith through this beautiful Sacrament of initiation into the Christian faith. As you prepare for this enriching and life-giving Sacrament of God’s love, know that our community is ready to accompany you, as you enter into a deeper understanding of the sacrament and your role as guardian of your child’s faith.
Baptisms are a community affair at St. Rose of Lima and are celebrated at weekend Masses. If you are seeking baptism for your child, the first step is to call the parish office at: 508-393-2413.
Parents requesting baptism for their children are required to attend a Baptismal instruction class prior to the baptism. This class is a helpful and encouraging tool for parents as they become the primary teachers of the faith for their child.
Godparents have a vital role to play for the child to be baptized. More than simply standing in a place of honor during the baptism, godparents - along with the parents - help to hold the faith of the child until the child reaches maturity and is able to hold the faith for his or her self. Godparents help to support parents in their efforts to raise their children in the Catholic faith and become important role models for their god children. As such, godparents must be fully initiated in and practicing their faith. To prepare for the baptizm, godparents will need to complete a sponsor consent form and return it to the parish prior to the baptism. Any questions, please contact Theresa: 508-393-2413
If you are an adult, and are interested in becoming Catholic - seeking Baptism or one of the other Sacraments of initiation, there is a wonderful and enriching process to become full members of the Catholic Church.
